help me give back to Long Beach Rescue Mission
hi everyone.
I’m launching a small service project for the holidays this year. 2020 has been as difficult, unexpected and extremely complicated to live through, yet I’m still here typing this up on my phone, safe and warm. reflecting on all our “troubles” this year, I realize how my “isolation”, in some weird fashion, kind of took me away from realizing what the world is actually going through. i guess you can say I got too comfortable with MY situation, as some of us may have, and I didn’t want to lose sight of how WE can still impact the community. in an effort to do this, I’m asking if any of you would like to help give back to an organization close to me - Long Beach Rescue Mission. this place serves meals and a place to sleep for many who need it every single day. in any given night, there are more than 50,000 homeless people in LA and Orange County combined (endhomelessness.org). my very first service project was here, and it’s opened up my mind and my heart to so many things thereafter. I miss the days where my friends and i would come here 2 weeks in a row to help prep and serve dinner, and unfortunately our current circumstances hinder us from doing that. current needs are listed on their website (lbrm.org), link in my bio will also help you navigate to that page. planning to schedule a drop off december 19/20.
